Volunteers of all ages are welcome.

St Albans has many volunteers but some work exceptional hours and go above and beyond the call of duty of a paid worker let alone in a volunteer capacity. Without our very committed, loyal volunteers, St Albans would not be able to provide the extensive and supportive services it offers.

We are forever in the debt of our volunteers, who are a large part of the charity.

Can I Volunteer?

St Albans offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, from helping in the Pre-school with 2–4 year olds, to accompanying our elderly on a trip to the seaside.  As a volunteer there are plenty of things you can do, and you can devote as much or as little time as you choose. You could help with our activities, or assist in the office or participate in the fundraising. But remember that working as a volunteer can be very fulfilling and rewarding as you strike up new friendships and participate in the life of your community.

What happens next?

If you decide to offer time as a volunteer you will need to contact our Centre Manager. Together you will chat over what your interests are and how you would like to be involved. If you become a volunteer, we will need to take up references to comply with our safety policy and you will receive training and on-going support from our Managers and other volunteers.

“I was first approached by St Albans about four years ago to stand in for the full time driver, who was about to go on his holidays.

This volunteer job helps to keep me occupied, gives me another interest, keeps me on the go and keeps me healthy."

“I love to go to St Albans, I have lots of friends there.

I find the work interesting and enjoy helping the members of the club, and the regular staff that work there, as sometimes it gets very busy."
