Developed by Emoticon, in collaboration with St Albans Community Centre, Me2 Mosaic Project took place during the 2006 spring half term. Twenty-two local children aged between 8-12 years old worked in artist-led workshops building mosaic self portraits. Starting the week by learning to use a digital camera to take portrait shots of each other the children then learned how to build a mosaic using the photograph as an outline.

The children were transported to and from the Community Centre each day. Sessions ran from 10.00am-4.00pm. The workshops were free and children were provided with a hot meal. There was access to an out door play area and IT suite for break times so that the children could let off steam between the sessions, which demanded high levels of concentration.
The children's work was of a very high standard, "If you'd told me at the start that I was going to make something that looked this good, I'd never have believed it." said Bailey, 9 years old.
