What is Sandwell ADHD Support Group?

Newspaper clipping

We are a voluntary organisation run by parent and carers. We aim to provide a much needed ‘listening ear' and we strive to help parents and carers access information on ADHD so they can find out how to deal with the condition.

Through promoting the group by talking to people and raising awareness of the condition we hope to help children live and deal with the consequences of ADHD.

The main areas for concern are impulsivity, hyperactivity and inattention, causing the child to lack the appropriate level of understanding to make the correct judgments regarding all aspects of their daily life, especially social interaction.

As parents of ADHD children we know that our children feel like ‘outsiders’ and we can feel isolated, and alienated from ‘normal’ family life.

As a support group we try to make a difference to the lives ADHD families. We will help to gain access to sources of information and get the advice you need (please note that we are not an advice service but we will try to help in every way that we can) this may include health, education, social care, out of school clubs and holiday play schemes.

We hope to invite guests to visit the group to talk about the various services available to families and sufferers. We would like to reach as many families in the Sandwell area as possible.
